When it comes to camping, whether you’re heading out for a weekend getaway or a longer adventure, preparation is everything. Forgetting even a small essential can throw a wrench in your plans. That’s why we’ve put together a detailed checklist of what we bring on our camping trips — from the big stuff down to the little things that make your outdoor experience smooth, safe, and enjoyable.

Food and Meal Prep
It’s a great idea to also create a list for what food you are going to bring. At the beginning, we used to pack way too much food – we’d never eat it all. I try to plan out our meals, and make a food list from there. Don’t forget the snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), and anything you might nibble on between meals, or while on a hike.
Stay tuned for another post that will go over what we actually bring for our weekend camping trips for myself (Cait), Layne and Angus.
Final Thoughts
Camping is all about creating memories, enjoying the outdoors, and escaping the everyday hustle. By using this checklist, you can head out knowing you have everything you need — from the essentials like your trailer keys and first aid kit to those little extras that make the trip more comfortable, like games and extra coolers. Happy camping!
